Job Description
The Manager – Chemistry’s Roles & Responsibilities are as follows:
• He heads the Plant Chemistry Dept. and will report to the Head – Operations & Chemistry.
• He will be associated with the power plant chemistry function which will include Testing & analysis of various tests & techniques used in power plant chemistry /water chemistry
• He is responsible for maintaining proper Chemistry in the DM & Feed Water Cycle, Steam Cycle, Cooling Water Systems and other systems.
• He is responsible to propose, plan, organize and conduct laboratory evaluations and field trials for alternative treatment chemicals (particularly cooling water treatment, D.M/Soft water etc.).
• He is responsible to establish, database and make recommendations for prediction of trends and associated risks (like corrosion of boiler & condenser tubes etc.) to facilities' operations. Make recommendations to the Company for necessary operational changes based on data analysis and test results.
• Advise on improving chemical performance in order to reduce operating costs and identify new, improved chemicals.
• Advise on EHS matters (Chlorine gas etc.) relating to treatment chemicals and laboratory operation.
• He assists the Head – Operation & Chemistry for finalizing the parameters related to his department for the Annual Operating Plan for the Plant and to achieve the Targets set by the Management.
• He is responsible for adopting the best Practices, Systems and Procedures.
• He is responsible for implementation of Integrated Management Systems and other Continuous Improvement Plans in his Dept.
• He will participate in the Planning and extend support for submission of MIS on time
• He is responsible for the protection of Environment.
• He is responsible for the Occupation Health and Safety of all the individuals working in his department.
• He is responsible to provide on-the-job guidance to Chemistry Technicians.
• He is assisted by the Executive – Chemist & Coordinators.
